Our very own Hamish Campbell, Pearlfisher VP Executive Creative Director, was delighted to attend and present at this year’s Design Nation conference, held at The Shed – an architecturally beautiful, cultural centre in Hudson Yards, New York.

The Design Nation Conference was founded to empower the next generation of creative talent. This year’s theme was all about transformations: “From caterpillar to butterfly, initial sketch to multimillion-dollar brand, the world is always in a state of transformation. Design spurs change, drives innovation and reinvents the narrative. This moment calls for metamorphosis – design decides the future.” – Design Nation

Hamish’s presentation posed the bold question, “The world is on fire: What do we do now?” –  and shared his thinking on what consumers expect to see from brands today, highlighting businesses that are already playing a part in building a better world and how they’re doing it. Particularly, through 3 key fundamentals, prioritising social good, reflecting inclusivity and showcasing impactful sustainability. He also joined a panel discussing design and branding for food brands.

Hamish joined a line-up of leading keynote speakers from notable brands and businesses, including, Natasha Jen, Pentagram Partner, Mila Linares, Head of Brand Development at Unicef, Rudi Anggono, Creative Director at Google and Eduardo Valazquez, Head of Design at Walmart – all exploring different topics and themes shaping design today and where the field will go tomorrow.
