When Savencia Cheese set out to introduce a new offering of cheeses in America, it was crucial that the products retain the French care, craft and quality at the roots of the company. To help demonstrate the brand’s personality and core at the family creamery, we tapped into the history of Savencia Cheese, narrowing in on the brand’s original tastemaker and chef, Dorothy. As the first woman in a leadership role at the company, we felt strongly that Dorothy set the standard for innovation so the brand of the same name – Dorothy’s Cheese – could follow suit.
To convey the freshness of ingredients and their local origins from the brand’s creamery in Lena, Illinois, Dorothy’s Cheese takes the shape of freshly sprung flowers, an ownable shape alongside competitors. With an evolved color palette, each of Dorothy’s soft-ripened cheeses show whimsical illustrations of Dorothy and her dairy cow. A lightheartedness in the product names cues the type of cheese and each flavor – Comeback Cow and Keep Dreaming – helping to underscore the wit of Dorothy and the tone of the brand as a whole.
