The Haller Foundation is a charity operating in Kenya that promotes economic development based on sustainable and environmental principles to help impoverished communities thrive.
With nationwide mobile coverage and affordable mobile technology now a reality for the majority in Kenya, first-generation farmers and their children have the powerful technology at their fingertips, for the first time ever.
Designed with the farmer in mind, we created an intuitive web-based app that gives hands-on, relevant solutions to local farmers – helping them live better self-sustainable lives by transforming landscapes, growing food, improving water conservation and regenerating communities. Simple, graphic and visually rich the educational content is segmented in a highly intuitive and effective way, providing farmer training techniques in an easy, step-by-step format supported by photography and audio in both English and Swahili to overcome illiteracy challenges. In addition, it incorporates an e-commerce functionality that empowers users to buy and sell goods they produce and develop a nano-economy.
The Haller Farmers app is enriching local communities beyond just farmer training, giving them a live voice and connecting them with functionalities such as instant messaging and local trader advertising.
